A 35-year-old Black man, Deontae Faison, is in critical condition and reliant on a feeding tube after a confrontation with police escalated during a routine visit to Wendy’s. Faison and a white female friend had gone to the fast-food restaurant when a police officer allegedly noticed that the car they were driving had expired tags.

Davis Moturi, a Minneapolis resident, is recovering after a harrowing racially motivated attack in which he was shot in the neck by his neighbor, John Sawchak. The assault left Moturi with severe injuries, including a fractured spine, broken ribs, and a concussion. Authorities have confirmed that the shooting was the culmination of years of racial harassment by Sawchak.
